asked:

In concept, VLJ’s sem like the simple answer to the normally expensive nature of private charter jet service. They are cheap to buy (many being sold for under $2 million), cheap to operate and have a fairly decent range (over 1000 nm). So why haven’t they worked? Why isn’t air taxi service the new trend in mid-range air travel?

The basic answer is it’s still not cost effective and the normally standard amenities of a “business jet” are absent in a VLJ. The quick shutdown of DayJet LLC in Florida is a great example of the inability of the “air taxi” concept to make money. DayJet claimed they needed an additional profit of 40 million to stay in business. The soaring price of jet fuel (sometimes as high as $9/gallon) is also a major stumbling block to many pilots and Air taxi companies.

With regard to amenities, the VLJ’s are lacking. VLJ’s usually have no bathroom. If they do it’s usually covered by a curtain or is called an “emergency toilet”. I know for sure that I don’t want to use or watch someone use an emergency bathroom while on a 3 hour flight. Small cabins and lack of galley are other missing amenities that some business travelers cannot overlook.

Another major concern is safety. The biggest safety difference is that VLJ’s are only built to hold 1 pilot. If the pilot has any problems in the air, the whole aircraft has problems. How many business travelers are willing to take that risk.

VLJ’s are not the answer. The business jet market will probably stay out of reach for the everyday business traveler. With the number of newly rich coming on daily, the business jet market will see plenty of opportunity in it’s current market. Market expansion for the private jet market does not currently seem like a feasible opportunity.

John Czetto

http://www.jethookup.com

Do you have Uticaria?

asked:

For those of us who fly a lot, whether it’s on business or pleasure, we know what it’s like to be stuck in airport terminals for hours, sometimes days, and it can be a major drain on time and resources. Time is money in the business world.

Say you have to be in Bangladese by noon tomorrow for a very important business meeting to wrap up a contract deal. You book a commercial flight to your destination, and while at the moment it says it’s going to be on time, something happens. The weather turns bad, or there are mechanical problems slowing everything up, and you find yourself looking at a major financial loss for your company if you don’t turn up on time. What do you do?

There is another option. Avail the services of an air charter rental company. These services are available almost worldwide.

There is the usual round trip pricing available, as well as what is refered to as the “empty leg” flights, which are priced for the one way itinerary. Here are a few reasons to fly with an air charter rental company.

There is the point to point air and ground transportation, NO airline check-in lines, NO parking problems. You can also fly to airports which are not visited by major airlines. Which means you get to avoid the terminal traffic. No more crowds! No more lay overs! No more having to deal with whiney, unruly children screaming the whole trip, or rude, unbathed, grumpy passengers who just love to get drunk and stupid.

There are various types of private jets that are available at a moment’s notice, and many companies that specialize in finding just right private jet charter for you at the right price. Let’s look at some of the types of air charter rentals available for private use.

First, there are the twin piston planes available for corporate, utility, and passenger transport. These small planes have a performance speed of up to 240 miles per hour and a range of around 1015 miles at maximum cruising speed. However, they do not have restroom facilities. The flight crew capacity is one to two people and accomodation for up to five passengers.

Next, we have the turbo prop planes. These planes are slightly bigger than the twin piston types. The performance speed of these planes reach a maximum of 277 miles per hour and have a range of 1100 miles at maximum cruising speed. This type also does not have restroom facilities. These planes are usually set up in an executive configuration so as to seat up to eight people in the pressurized cabin. Flight crew capapcity of one or two.

The Learjet is one of the most popular of the private rentals available. This small corporate jet has a performance speed of up to 500 miles per hour and a range of 1400 miles. It can fly up to the altitude of 45,000 feet. It also offers bathroom facilities known as the “potty”. The capacity of these small jets is a flight crew of two and while it will seat six people comfortably, it will hold a maximum of eight passengers.

The most expensive of the private jet rentals are, of course, the large jet air craft. But, these rental jets also offer the best luxuries and comfort for your trip.

These long range executive craft have a performance speed of 550 miles per hour and fly at an altitude of 45,000 feet. Their range is 3900 miles and they have enclosed bathroom facilities. A flight crew of two with the main cabin seating being between ten and fourteen people plus a flight attendant.

Each of the air charter rentals come in several style types. Each have their performance pros and cons. A person’s best bet is to do the research and decide which would best fit you needs and budget.

So, the next time your planning a flight trip, be it for pleasure or for business purposes, then consider the private air charter services avaliable. Remember your time is valuble, and time is money.

This air charter rental article was produced for http://www.charter-private-jet.net

Looking to Kick the habit?

Do you need a charter jet and are confused as to which company and plane to choose? There are many different companies that will charter a jet for you and they have many choices for you to choose from. You can find out everything you need to know to make a good decision online with a few searches.

There are many ways to find out which private jet recommendation you should take and which plane you should rent. There are so many choices that you need to narrow them down and you can do this by using your network if you are in business or by using your friends, family, and neighbors. Ask around and find out what other companies or friends are using for their private jet travel needs. This can give you some good ideas as to which companies are good and which ones are not.

Now, if you do not know anybody that has ever rented a private jet, then you will have to look else where for your private jet recommendations. There are plenty of places you can go online to find the information you need. You will be able to get recommendations from forums, discussion boards, and from other websites. There are even websites that are dedicated specifically to private get charting companies and recommending them.

You will want to come up with a list of your needs, wants, and what you expect out of your private jet charter. Make sure you know exactly what you need because this will effect the cost of your jet chartering. You will need to choose a size of plane. You can choose from a light plane that might seat 4 to 6 people, a mid sized that can be a bit more luxurious and can seat more passengers, or a heavy luxury jet that will allow you to travel in comfort and luxury.

Depending on your needs will depend on which one of the many private jet recommendations you will want to go with. Make sure to do all the research you can on the different options so that you get what you want out of your private jet rental.

Are you thinking about renting a private jet?
asked:

Scotland’s main air hub Edinburgh International Airport (EDI) can be found about eight miles of the city. The airport has one terminal, which operates services to significant centres throughout Great Britain, America, Europe, and Asia. All international and national arrivals are positioned on the ground floor, while outlets and dining establishments are chiefly situated on the first floor.

As a project manager I have to make many short business trips across the year. I frequently use the Edinburgh International from where I fly to mainly domestic destinations. I always drive to the airport with my own car so the availability of good parks is essential to me. The services the parking agencies provide are in general quite good and I can now this because throughout the years I have parked my car nearly at all of them. Location and parking fees are the only factors that aren’t similar. I hope my experiences with parking at Edinburgh Airport might be of some kind of assistance to you.

The best experiences I had with the three available services which I will describe below.

Just a stone’s throw away (500 yards) from the terminal building you can find the largest off airport parking amenity which is professionally run by Secure Airparks. Transfers to the terminal are provided on request and are available day and night. The travel time is just one minute. The excellently secured parking facility was awarded with the Secure Car Parks Award.

Park and Fly offer good value airport car parking services as well. Their car park is just a short coach voyage away from Edinburgh International Airport’s terminal building. The park is very well secured. There are 24 hour man patrols and an infra-red system covers the entire perimeter which is securely fenced as well. For your convenience Park and Fly operates a frequent shuttle bus service which is available around the clock and each day of the following a route to and from the airport terminal building. The ride takes approximately five to ten minutes depending on the intensity of traffic.

The laid-back Meet and Greet parking option is operated by Secure Airparks as well. Secure Airparks can send someone to meet you as you arrive at the airport. A company’s representative will safely park your car while you continue with your check-in procedure and they have your vehicle ready for you at the moment you return from your holiday or business trip.

Due to my intensive travelling I know by now that arranging airport parking through the internet is really the best way. Not only it gives you peace of mind but it will save you a couple of pounds too. I guess all regular fliers know that airport parking is quite pricy so getting a discounted fee is a nice benefit. The booking services on the internet which I will mention below are a few of the best online providers. If you want to make your travelling more laid-back I highly advice these as they offer efficient, rapid, secure, and easy services. What’s more relaxed than booking your car parking while sitting in your comfortable lazy chair at home?

Recommendations from Travel writer Andrew Bond for traveling online booking:
http://www.airport-parking-discounts.co.uk/edinburgh.htm and
http://www.airport-parking-quote.com

Do you have Uticaria?

asked:

Delta Airlines announces that it will have huge lay offs and that they “will not be small.” Before they had filed bankruptcy the stock went under $1.00 per share. The latest hike in fuel costs are problematic and costing over $3.1 Million Dollars per day more and jet fuel is not coming down. Delta had already laid off 1000 people in Cincinnati. The entire airline industry predicts over 2 bankruptcies between now and end of year. Northwest has also filed bankruptcy and has just been delisted.

Northwest is was looking bad even before the bankruptcy and delisting, with mechanical failures and a mechanics strike. Although it is hard to say how much of the mechanical issues are deliberate sabotage from striking mechanics and just very old Aircraft. After all, what Modern Airline would still be flying a DC-9?

Delta Air Lines Inc. stock fell nearly 21 percent to 87 cents a share just prior to their bankruptcy, following a Wall Street Journal report that said the troubled carrier is only days away from filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Now that it has filed, things look even worse, although many believe it may survive. Delta has lost $10 billion since 2001. Now with Hurricane Rita looking to a direct hit on Houston, the oil barrel prices spiked the most in one day of trading, than in any time in history; it is up four dollars.

This latest increase in oil prices will probably prevent any of the larger carriers from emerging from their bankruptcies any time soon. Things are looking very scary for the Airline industry and Mother Nature will not seem to let up on the United States either, as she threatens even more disasters in our near future.
asked:

The preference for air travel is growing and evolving. Many companies offer low cost airfares. They use various schemes to stay afloat in the sea of competition. There are a number of questions that arise on the lowest airfares and their availability. A little discretion and research online goes a long way. It pays to read and get updated on relevant reviews and newspaper columns.

There are many ways by which people can find low airfares. They can shop and compare to see which airfare is the lowest and offers the best value for money. There are numerous offers that surface with regular research. Passengers need to keep their options open and remain flexible. This way that helps to negotiate and reduce the cost of airfares. The choice of alternative airports and low cost carriers can help to save a lot of money. Low airfares can be acquired by adjusting the date and time of travel. There are some airfares that are decided on the time factor involved.

Advance reservations help to reduce the fare because there are attractive and special offers that are given to such people. Travel agents are also helpful and resourceful in saving on the airfare of customers. The option of traveling off-season can help to save a lot, as the prices at that time are generally low.
asked:

Local tourism has been on the up with the introduction of more budget airlines over the past few years, and these days it is easier than ever to work national flights into your holiday budget. So, while airfare to South Africa may have been on the rise recently, budget airlines in South Africa are making sure that travel in South Africa is affordable to airline users.

There are a couple of airlines competing to offer the cheapest flights to Johannesburg, and it is now possible to find cheap flights to Durban, cheap flights to JHB and cheap flights to Cape Town from one of the budget airlines in South Africa.

Mango Airways, Kulula Airline and Nationwide are probably the three cheapest options when flying in South Africa, although it may be worthwhile checking 1Time, SAA and British Airways to see if there are specials available.

Each airline has its own quirks and benefits, so make sure of the services provided and what is included in your ticket price. You may need to buy lunch on the flight, or it may be included. If you think you will need to eat on the flight you may want to make sure of this detail.

Whichever airline you choose to fly with when traveling in South Africa, make sure to get to the airport in time, double check your boarding time and when you should check in your luggage. There are a variety of car rental agents available at each of the major South African airports, but you may find it easier to call the rental agency in advance if you are planning to rent a car in your destination city.

Cheap flights in South Africa are widley available for getting to South Africa

Awesome Myspace Layouts

asked:

In this article, I want to give you the main reasons why more and more people like to travel around the world in a private jet instead of making use of commercial airlines.

Here are the top 5 reasons:
1.) Comfort
Chartering a private jet is not just about flying from one destination to another, it is the on-board experience which turns it into an unforgettable journey. Flying in a private jet is an experience of space, comfort, time and service and can’t be compared to flying with a commercial airline where in most cases you have everything else but space and comfort.

2.) Luxury
It’s true: A private jet can be called “the rich person’s taxi”. Luckily, chartering a private jet is one of the safest and most luxurious ways to travel for business or pleasure. Travelling in a private jet can probably be compared to riding in a luxury limousine rather than flying in a full-size commercial air plane. It’s no secret that a private jet is the quickest, most convenient and most exclusive form of transport.

3.) Impress
Impress your clients and employees by being different. A business trip in a private jet is an awesome incentive to keep your talented people from leaving you. It can also be used to get a closer connection to your best clients. After all, who wouldn’t be impressed if you invited someone to accompany you on a business trip to the Far East or Europe? If you are travelling on a special occasion with a private group or a special friend, chartering a private jet is a great way to share luxury and comfort.

4.) Privacy
Most of the times, the private jet is carrying only a couple of passengers or you can even rent the whole jet for yourself and your own companions. A flight in a private jet is a privilege enjoyed by an extremely small number of people as not everyone can afford it. This means that not every Tom, Dick and Harry will be sitting next to you. Flying with only your closest friends, business partners or your spouse in a private jet is perfect for a special celebration, an indulgent day trip or simply to escape from the monotony of life.

5.) Highest Flexibility
This is probably the most important reason of all: You can be completely independent from travelling agencies and commercial air charter companies and fly from point A to point B with as little as a 12 hours notice. One of the wondrous things about travelling by private jet is the total absence of hassles at the borders if you are flying internationally. You don’t have to follow any schedule whatsoever: Be at the right airports at the right times!

Chartering a private jet is the only way I’m travelling around the world. It’s great that flying in a private jet also is one of the safest and most luxurious ways to travel. To circumnavigate the world in a private jet is a great experience and a once-in-a-lifetime journey. You’ll be pleasantly surprised to know the investment in chartering a private jet is a real deal for you and your company, spouse, and anyone else you want.

Have you been intrigued by the article and now you want to get to know more about travelling in a private jet?
asked:

Most fathers and sons share common knowledge and it is a long tradition that fathers pass on their skills to their sons. As the son of a naval aviator many of my dad skills were passed down to me. My dad taught me how to fly and encouraged my interest in aviation. It started as a child my dad had flash-cards of all the potential enemy aircraft from his A-4 Squadron then the A-7 Squadron.

Every time they got a new aircraft, my dad and those pilots got a new deck of cards and I kept the old ones studying them from every angle like my dad, sketching them and learning everything on the back, range, speed, attributes, propulsion, everything. Of course my fascination with aircraft did not stop there.

I built every 1:72 scale model ever made over an 8-year period. It is truly amazing how the Cold War was much about our Germans VS their Germans after WW II. Of course von Braun and company came here, but Russia, they also got a bunch of rocket scientists, luckily for the USA, we had capitalism to hyperspace their stuff, but the CIA and the US had been infiltrated along with the British Spy agency and there were few secrets and lots of misdirection and skeptics.

Today I have designs of my own, sketches and new concepts and I love to fly. I certainly hope this article is of interest and that is has propelled thought. The goal is simple; to help you in your quest to be the best in 2007. I thank you for reading my many articles on diverse subjects, which interest you.

“Lance Winslow” – Online Think Tank forum board.
asked:

I always dreamed about flying with a private jet, but buying or renting one was always too expensive for me. I always liked to fly so I had to settle for first class with commercial flights. It was fun for a while, but as the prices dropped for commercial flights, more and more people preferred to travel with an airplane than with a car. So these days airports are very crowded. Also because of the terrorist attacks in the past, there are a lot of security checks. All of this together makes you spend a lot of time in an airport.

After a while I found out that more and more people traveled using a private jet. At first, only someone who needed to attend an urgent meeting or wanted to be sure that he gets somewhere on time used a private jet. Lately, a lot of the commercial flights are being cancelled because of bad weather or other reasons.

When more and more people rented private jets for business or something personal, companies started showing up on the market and the competition grew quite a bit too. This was a great thing to happen for me, because the prices dropped so much that now I can afford to fly with a private jet. It still is quite expensive, but once in a lifetime at least it is worth doing it.

There are a few ways in which you can travel in a private jet. The most expensive one would be to buy your own private jet. Not only that it will cost a few million dollars, depending on the size, but the maintenance will also cost you a lot. That’s why if you need to travel a lot for your business, the best way would be to fractionally own a private jet. That means that more people will buy together a private jet and will equally split the time in which they use it for one year. The maintenance cost will also be split.

Most of the people prefer to rent a private jet. It is easy and also goes within short notice. As far as I know you can book a flight even 10 hours before. Everything is arranged by the company you just need to sit back and relax. Now you know why many people prefer a private jet than a business class for a commercial flight.

Flying with a private jet can be a great experience.
